In 2003, GMR negotiated for ING to become the title sponsor of the NYC Marathon. After winning the award for the Best Event Marketing Program of the Year and Best Sports Marketing Sponsorship in 2004 for the ING NYC Marathon, GMR continues to evolve ING's running strategy across multiple running events. Each event delivers demonstrable improvements for race participants, spectators, and the communities along race routes.
In 2006, we will add the ING Miami Marathon and other additional key US running events to our ING portfolio, which currently includes NYC, Twin Cities and Ottawa. GMR will also announce ING's running platform well beyond 2007. The ING Run For Something Better program will reach more than 15,000 kids in schools and communities with little or no Physical Education programs.
